The latest version of Gear VR, Samsung’s virtual reality headset which was once purely available for the Galaxy Note 4, has decided to be purchasable by those who own the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. Labeled as an Innovator Edition, units goes on sale May 8 with an undisclosed price, but a pre-order for units will need place April 24 (tomorrow) on Best Buy’s website.
As for the purpose price you could expect, the very first Gear VR was charging $199 for Note 4 owners, and that we don’t use whatever reason Samsung should get off that selling price. While content for VR devices remains to be rather limited, the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge feature higher than normal resolution displays, making whatever content that can be found, considerably more enjoyable.
During time with the Gear VR with the Note 4, I was sometimes shocked that I could still see pixels, however the Note 4 incorporates a QHD display. However, while using Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge featuring small displays with higher pixel-per-inch counts, maybe that won’t be an issue.
